Held between 20-24 May 2015 in Bangkok city of Thailand for 11th time this year, THAIFEX-World of Food Asia 2015 Exhibition was attended by more than 30 thousand visitors and around 1,500 firms operating in food sector from 32 countries such as Turkey, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, Philippines and Singapore.
The exhibition which is the most important fair in its sector in Southeastern Asia and in which Turkey was a partner country was attended under the national participation organization realized by the Central Anatolian Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Union with 13 firms and 4 promotion groups.
In the evening of the opening day of the exhibition, a gala dinner was given under the sponsorship of Turkey as the partner country, where various dishes from Turkish cuisine were served. Following the showing of an introductory film on Turkey, sand animation artist Veysel Çelikdemir’s performance became the center of interest. In the evening of 21 May 2015, a reception was given by Turkey’s Ambassador to Bangkok Mr. Osman Bülent TULUN for the fair participants at the Embassy. The Board of Directors of the Central Anatolian Cereals, Pulses, Oil Seeds and Products Exporters’ Union, the representatives of Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (UTG), and the personnel of the General Secretariat of OAİB attended the reception. Following the official opening of the exhibition, UTG’s stand was visited by Thailand’s Prime Minister Mr. Prayut Chan-o-CHA, Turkey’s Ambassador to Bangkok Mr. Osman Bülent TULUN, Commercial Counsellor Ms. Nesrin GÜNDOĞAN ÜZER, and many bureaucrats. UTG Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ informed Mr. Prayut Chan-o-CHA about UTG, presenting him with a book on Turkey and a china plate. Many activities were realized at UTG stand. Chef Cook Emin Aydemir prepared and served bakery products such as “kurabiye”, “börek”, “poğaça”, etc. to the visitors, showing off his art. Furthermore, sand artist Veysel Çelikdemir's sand animation performances attracted great interest. At UTG stand, the visitors were furnished with catalogues containing information on the Promotion Group and the products covered by the Promotion Group, and aprons and bags carrying the name and logo of the Promotion Group, and various baked products were offered to the visitors throughout the exhibition.
