Five hundred firms from 33 countries participated in Sial Brazil 2014- Latin American International Food Exhibition held for the 30th time between 24-27 June 2014 at Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo city of Brazil, concurrently with Fispal Food Service exhibition. Turkey’s National Participation Organization was realized by TÜYAP with participation of 12 firms.

The exhibition is of the nature of continuation of Sial’s 11 successful exhibitions in Argentina, and is the biggest food-concept organization of Latin America. Having a population of 203 million, consumption potential and rising imports, Brazil is an important market for the exporters looking for alternative foreign markets.

Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (UTG) promoted particularly flour, yeast, starch and other export products included in its field of activity, as well as Turkey’s potential in the exhibition in which it participated for the second time. The exhibition was attended by Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, Chairman of UTG, and Mr. Nurettin DEMİRPOLAT, Vice Chairman of UTG, and our info stand was visited by Mr. Mehmet Özgün ARMAN, Consul-General in Sao Paulo, and Ms. Canan GÜRHAN, Commercial Counsellor in Sao Paulo, and Mr. Ramazan KISA as well.

The second day of the exhibition saw participation in the reception organized by Mr. Mehmet Özgün ARMAN, Consul-General in Sao Paulo, for all participants and Brazilian sectoral association representatives and buyer firms. Negotiations were held at the reception with the authorized officials of ABIMA (Brazilian Association of Pasta and Bread Industries) and ANIB (Brazilian Association of the Biscuit Industry) which are flour buyers. 

Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group furnished visitors with cookbooks in Portuguese and English, containing recipes of sweet and salty bakery products and catalogues introducing the sector, and various baked products were offered to the visitors throughout the exhibition. In addition, kitchen aprons, briefcases and baker’s sets carrying the name and logo of the Promotion Group were distributed. The shows performed by the sand animation artist Mr. Veysel Çelikdemir using flour and sand attracted a big interest from the visitors.
