Upon the 4-month provisional measure decision issued by the Philippine Agriculture Ministry on 23 April 2014 under the anti-dumping investigation launched against “wheat flour” imports, an UTG delegation visit to the Philippines was organized between 22-27 May 2014 in order to prevent the said investigation from being concluded against our country and our sector.
Under the delegation program, a breakfast held weekly by some Philippine columnists was attended on 24 May 2014, where Turkish Ambassador in Manila Ms. Esra CANKORUR gave a brief speech, and Mr. Avşin KAŞIKÇI, Member of Wheat Flour Working Committee, gave a presentation, explaining Turkey’s arguments against the anti-dumping investigation, and an UTG promotional film was shown.
At the lunch given on 26 May 2014 forPhilippine press members at New World Makati Hotel, a similar presentation was given again by the Wheat Flour Working Committee Member Mr. Avşin KAŞIKÇI, and an UTG promotional film was shown.
In addition, Ernesto CHUA, the most important flour importer of the Philippines, gave presentations at both meetings, explaining the unfairness of the anti-dumping investigation in question.
On 27 May 2014, the UTG delegation visited Pangarap Shelter for Street Children, which carries out activities to reintegrate them into society, and had breakfast with the children.
