Many firms from a great number of countries participated in SIAL Paris 2014 Exhibition which celebrated its 50th anniversary between 19-23 October 2014 at Paris Nord Villepinte fair area in Paris, France. Turkey’s National Participation Organization was realized by the Chamber of Commerce for Istanbul with the participation of a total of 230 firms operating in various fields of the food sector.
Being one of the most important food fairs of the world, the exhibition attracted great interest from the European countries, as well as from the African countries and Middle Eastern countries in particular. Ten flour-exporter firms from Turkey participated in the exhibition as it offered a major opportunity for contact with the African market which occupies an important place in Turkey’s flour exports.
Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (UTG) promoted particularly flour, yeast, starch and other export products included in its field of activity, as well as Turkey’s potential in the exhibition in which it participated for the first time. The exhibition was attended by Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, Chairman of UTG, Mr. Nurettin DEMİRPOLAT, Vice Chairman of UTG, and Mr. Uğur ÇERÇİ, Director of UTG, and our info stand was visited by Mr. Hakkı AKİL, Turkish Ambassador in Paris, and Ms. G. Müge VAROL ILICAK, Chief Commercial Counsellor in Paris, and Mr. Cem TOPBAŞ, Commercial Counsellor in Paris, as well.
Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group furnished visitors with cookbooks in French and English, containing recipes of sweet and salty bakery products and catalogues introducing the sector, and various baked products were offered to the visitors throughout the exhibition. In addition, kitchen aprons, bags and baker’s sets carrying the name and logo of the Promotion Group were distributed. The shows performed by the sand animation artist Mr. Veysel Çelikdemir using flour and sand drew intense attention from the visitors.
