Flour exported to Brazil for the first time in the history of the Turkish Republic

A “Special Procurement Delegation” Program for Brazil was Realized Under the Organization of the Central Anatolian Exporters Union and Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group…

A Special Procurement Delegation Program was realized between 24–28 October 2013 with the participation of the officials of 3 Brazilian firms for procurement of “wheat flour” under the organization of the General Secretariat of the Central Anatolian Exporters Unions and Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group, under the coordination of the Ministry of Economy.

Within the framework of the Special Procurement Delegation Program, an information meeting was held in Istanbul on 26 October 2013 Saturday, with Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, Chairman of the Central Anatolian Cereals, Pulses, Oily Seeds and Products Exporters Union, and Chairman of Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group, informing the participant Turkish firms. The meeting was followed by bilateral business negotiations between the officials of 17 Turkish exporter firms and the Brazilian firms. Following the bilateral business negotiations which were quite productive, a dinner was held with the participation of all delegation members.

Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group took the first step directed towards Brazil which it designated as a target country by participating with an info stand in “Sial Brazil 2013- International Hotel, Restaurant Equipment, Ice-Cream Technologies and Food-Beverage Exhibition held for the 29th time between 25-28 June 2013 in Sao Paulo city, concurrently with Fispal Food Service Exhibition. In the wake of the exhibition, a delegation visit to Sao Paulo city of Brazil took place between 17-19 September 2013 with the participation of 8 Turkish flour exporter firms under the organization Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group with a view to assessing the potential of the country. During the visit, meetings were held with the participation of the officials of the Brazilian Association of Pasta and Bread Industries (ABIMA) and the Brazilian Association of the Biscuit Industry (ANIB) and Brazilian firms.

Following the organizations, Turkish flour exporters made contacts with Brazilian firms and exported wheat flour to the said country for the first time in the history of the Republic. The Special Procurement Delegation organization aimed at increasing our flour exports by strengthening the relations between the two countries. Given the potential of Brazil, our exports are expected to increase rapidly in the coming period.
